austin3515 Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Is there a write-up somehwre on the paid preparer rules? Austin Powers, CPA, QPA, ERPA
pmacduff Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Austin - does the attached help? pcir230.pdf
austin3515 Posted September 9, 2011 Author Posted September 9, 2011 I know that all applies to ERPA's (like me ) but I thought there were also rules for even those who were not registered. This seems to refer only registered tax return preparers. I thought that 5500 preparers were exempted from registering now? Austin Powers, CPA, QPA, ERPA
Tom Poje Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 they even released the test guidelines the other day (muntiple guess, true/false or even falser) 120 questions http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=245207,00.html I wondered what would be completed first - that or the form 5500 for 2011. one article on 5500 exempt from paid preparer rules: http://www.asppa.org/TBD/11-01.aspx
austin3515 Posted September 9, 2011 Author Posted September 9, 2011 OK, but let's say you're not an ERPA or anyone else enrolled with the IRS. Just a regular Joe TPA. Your client tells you not to disclose a Prohibited Transaction on a schedule G on the 5500 (even though it obviously was a PT). I'm looking for the rule that says as a paid preparer, it's against the rules to comply with suich a request. Austin Powers, CPA, QPA, ERPA
austin3515 Posted September 9, 2011 Author Posted September 9, 2011 Just to clarify, it's not that I would ever consider such a ridiculous request, but I'm curious to know the rules that are applicable here. Austin Powers, CPA, QPA, ERPA
