DPSRich Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 On the IRS Website this morning is the newly released 2010 Form 8955-SSA. Are we still allowed to file using paper? I tried clicking on instructions by got an error message "not available". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. DPSRICH
chc93 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Another question.... can we still use the 2009 form to report 2010 information, or must we use the 2010 form for 2010 information. We've prepared a bunch using the 2009 form to report 2010 information, but not yet filed...
chc93 Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 The 2010 Form 8955-SSA instructions were released this morning. It looks like if 2010 information was already filed on the 2009 form (whether combined with 2009, or 2010 by itself), all is well, and nothing further is required for 2010. But if 2010 information has not yet been filed, the 2010 form must be used. I think this is what the instructions say...
ESOP Guy Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Are the software vendors going to be able to get new software out if we have to start using the 2010 now? The due date is still 1/17/2012 and it can take Penison Reporter a month or more to get an update with a new form out to us. The IRS doesn't appear to have thought this one through on the practical side very much.
