Guest bulls1985 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 My wife and I got married 6 months ago and missed the 30 day window to have her dropped form her coverage and added to mine. I want to consolidate her onto the plan I get through work. I just added her to my insurance during the open enrollment period (effective January 1). Can she cancel her coverage because she now has coverage through me, or does she have to wait until her open enrollment period (June) to do so?

Check the summary plan description you received, which should have all of that information in it. Your spouse's employer may allow such changes, but it is not required to do so.
Chaz Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Most cafeteria plans permit changes in these sort of circumstances.
