Guest charlesperry Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 We got a call from our insurance company today for us to come by & review our coverage or something, so we were in town so we stopped by & she went over our coverage & everything then she asked about our house & life insurance. We dont have underpinnin on our trailor, plus its not in our name lol, so we couldnt do a quote for that so she quoted us for life insurance. so she did it for dh me & the kids for us 50,000 each & 10,000 for each of the kids & it was $40 a month for 5 years. idk anything about life insurance does this sound bad or is it good? lol if you have life insurance how much are u paying a month? & who are you with?
Guest matthew222 Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 That's really high, assuming you are remotely healthy and don't smoke. You should be able to get several times that for those premiums. I would suggest going online and doing a search. There are a number of websites that can provide a comparison for life insurance quotes.
david rigby Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Not knowing ages (and insurability) of the insured(s), it's impossible to know whether those premiums are high. This website is not a good place for such comparisons or discussions. I'm a retirement actuary. Nothing about my comments is intended or should be construed as investment, tax, legal or accounting advice. Occasionally, but not all the time, it might be reasonable to interpret my comments as actuarial or consulting advice.
Guest matthew222 Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Yes, very good points David. If you're 73, perhaps it is a good rate. Bear in mind that the premiums she gave you are just proposed as well. Until you go through medical underwriting, nothing is final.
