DPSRich Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Has anyone heard of an extension being granted beyond the 2 1/2 months for January 31, 2012 Plan Year ends. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. DPSRich
david rigby Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 See http://www.irs.gov/ for the IRS relief. I'm a retirement actuary. Guest 4Kicks Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 The IRS Notice 2012-83 does address return filing and tax payment extensions, but it is not specific as to "what" returns/forms. I'd like to assume the 5500 Series is included in the third paragraph sentence of "The tax relief postpones various tax filing and payment deadlines that occurred starting in late October." I thought "various tax filings" may have been defined by a previous IRS Publication surrounding disaster relief, hurricane relief, etc. I could not find anything. The closest I read was a reference from the PBGC website that they have announced extensions as well and reference the Notice 2012-83 (their announcement includes a 5500 extended reference).
