rcline46 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I really, really, really miss by 'view new posts' button! It was FAR more efficient thatn the new set up!
rcline46 Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 It moved - have to use 'view new items' and you get a new menu on the right hand side.
Dave Baker Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 It moved - have to use 'view new items' and you get a new menu on the right hand side. Did you mean the "View New Content" link?
Belgarath Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Ok, it works great. I'm technologically disadvantaged, so I usually have an initial hiccup whenever something new comes up. Thanks.
WDIK Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Is there a way to jump to new posts within a thread you have already read, rather than having to start at the top again? ...but then again, What Do I Know?
Dave Baker Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 No, although this method comes close: * Use the View New Content link, which produces a list of the threads that contain new content. * Each item in that list includes (towards the right-hand side) the user name of the person who posted the most recent post in that thread and, immediately under that user name, the date of the post. * Click on that date (not the user name). This brings up a view of that particular post. This method works perfectly for those message threads onto which only one new post has been added, but when a message thread has had more than one new post added then it wouldn't take you to the first new post in that thread (just to the last-added new post).
MoJo Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Just a comment (can't see a better place) about the new design - it works, and that's good, but now I have to scroll continuously to see threads with new activity. I really don't need more than "one line" per thread. I used to get a lot more on my "desktop real estate" and now, I get maybe a third as much. Just my two cents worth....

The old system used to display the date and the TIME of the last post, didn't it? I found that quite useful.
MWeddell Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Is there a way to jump to new posts within a thread you have already read, rather than having to start at the top again? Click on the large dot or bulletpoint immediately preceding the name of the thread. If you hover your cursor above the dot, it will indicate that going to the first unread post is the purpose of the dot.
Dave Baker Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 MWeddell -- THANKS for this great tip! Mike Preston, thanks very much for pointing out the display issue. I have found and set an administrative option that has changed the date display to include the time at which the last message was posted. Good idea!
MWeddell Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 You are welcome, Dave. Thanks for maintaining a great website!
