david rigby Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Um, there are two songs that begin with that phrase. I'm a retirement actuary. Nothing about my comments is intended or should be construed as investment, tax, legal or accounting advice. Occasionally, but not all the time, it might be reasonable to interpret my comments as actuarial or consulting advice.
GMK Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 Good point. Gentry and Diamond ... and my brother's birthday, as well. But for me, the 3rd of June is that sleepy, dusty delta day ... pass the biscuits, please.
StalterStew1 Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 What does that mean? Is this related to your brother's birthday?
GMK Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 It means that "the third of June" always triggers "another sleepy, dust delta day" in my mind. It has nothing to do with my brother. And although he has baled hay, I have never picked cotton. It was a shame about Billy Joe anyhow.
GMK Posted June 3, 2016 Author Posted June 3, 2016 one last time for this sleepy, dusty delta day. Retirement looms in February, so I can promise that this is my last mention of the 3rd of June. I won't bug you about it next year.
AndyH Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 one last time for this sleepy, dusty delta day. Retirement looms in February, so I can promise that this is my last mention of the 3rd of June. I won't bug you about it next year. So you're getting out of this business voluntarily? (Does anybody ever get in it other than by accident?)
My 2 cents Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 one last time for this sleepy, dusty delta day. Retirement looms in February, so I can promise that this is my last mention of the 3rd of June. I won't bug you about it next year. So you're getting out of this business voluntarily? (Does anybody ever get in it other than by accident?) Leaving voluntarily beats the alternatives (with the possible exception of working until you drop)! Always check with your actuary first!
mphs77 Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 I'm pretty sure that leaving voluntarily beats working until you drop as well.....
My 2 cents Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 I'm pretty sure that leaving voluntarily beats working until you drop as well..... People who really love their work (assuming that there are such people) might disagree with you! Always check with your actuary first!
GMK Posted June 8, 2016 Author Posted June 8, 2016 I'm pretty sure that leaving voluntarily beats working until you drop as well..... Leaving voluntarily is usually less stressful on your co-workers, and the timing is easier to coordinate with their busy schedules.
GMK Posted June 3, 2018 Author Posted June 3, 2018 As promised, I didn't mention it in 2017, … but lo and behold, here it is again, my favorite sleepy, dusty, delta day. Hope you are all well. It's still fun to read your comments about the things I used to work on. My replacement at work gets updated here, too, so keep up the good work. K2retire 1
