Guest MEGary Posted March 22, 2000 Posted March 22, 2000 We have a new client that left their prior record keeper on bad terms. The client is unable to locate the 1998 5500c/r's and the prior R/K is not going to help (I really don't think they have them anyway). How can I/the client go about requesting copies of the 5500c/r's from the IRS? Is this possible? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Fredman Posted March 22, 2000 Posted March 22, 2000 Give this site a try...freeErisa.com. You can view prior 5500 filings for just about any plan. The latest news for the site states that they have about half of the 1998 forms available. You need Adobe Acrobat version 4 to correctly view the files. Guest Emiliano Posted March 23, 2000 Posted March 23, 2000 Or you could obtain the lost forms from the US Department of Labor, Pension & Welfare Benefits Administration, Office of Program Services. (202) 219-8771 or USDOL, PWBA, Public Disclosure Room Room N-5638 200 Constitution Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20210
Kirk Maldonado Posted March 23, 2000 Posted March 23, 2000 Another source would be: Judy Diamond Associates, Inc. 1900 L Street, NW, Suite 400 Washington, DC 20036 800-231-0669 Kirk Maldonado
Earl Posted April 9, 2000 Posted April 9, 2000 There is also an IRS form to request a copy of a filed form. There is some stupid fee associated with this filing ($3?). I did it once a long time ago and use freeErisa now a couple of times. CBW
