Christine Roberts Posted June 22, 2000 Posted June 22, 2000 The old 5500s asked you to confirm whether, for a terminated plan, a determination letter had been requested. "No" answers to this question were always viewed as an audit trigger. I cannot find this question on the new form, or the retirement plan schedules. Am I missing something? ------------------
Guest Laura Posted July 12, 2001 Posted July 12, 2001 i read a Q&A you posted to the benefitslink message board in june of 2000 and was wondering about the outcome. specifically, you observed that the revised 5500 series does not include a question re: 5310 filing in the event a plan is terminated. i guess i'm reading into your post that you were considering "quietly" terminating a retirement plan w/o filing form 5310. is that right? if so, were you able to file the plan quietly or were you audited. i have a client that wants to know the risks of not filing form 5310. i'm trying to get a handle on the potential audit risk. any input you could provide is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
