nancy Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 I have several plans that have an extended due date to December 31, 2020 as a result of Hurricane Laura. However, the IRS Fire Website is down for maintenance until after the first of the year. Should I go ahead and file once the site is up knowing they are late and write a cause letter when penalties are assessed?
mming Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 I'm guessing you're required to file electronically because you have to file >250 various returns during the year, otherwise a paper form can be filed. Your suggestion seems to be the way to go since the IRS isn't giving you a choice.
