Guest Fred Benefits Posted August 29, 2000 Posted August 29, 2000 Does the IRS maintain PDF versions of Form 5500 and the instructions for years BEFORE 1999? If it does, how do you find the 1998 Form 5500 instructions on the Web?
R. Butler Posted August 29, 2000 Posted August 29, 2000 The IRS website allows you to download prior year forms to at least 1993. Go to http://www.irs.gov
Guest Fred Benefits Posted August 29, 2000 Posted August 29, 2000 Well, I wrote the original e-mail to start this thread after a fruitless search of the IRS website. After reviewing your post, I went back to the URL you described, enterd "Form 5500" in the search box, and came up with several hits for the 1999 Form 5500, but for no other year. What I'd like are the Instructions for the 1998 Form 5500-C/R. I can't find them on the IRS website. If there's anyone out there who can find them on the IRS website, would you please let me know where you find them?
R. Butler Posted August 29, 2000 Posted August 29, 2000 http://www.irs.gov at the bottom of the page click forms & publications scroll down until you see prior year forms and pubs. click on the link. it should work just like you were getting current forms.
Guest Fred Benefits Posted August 29, 2000 Posted August 29, 2000 Been there, done that. The only 1998 form regarding Form 5500 that I find there is "1998 Pakg 5500 Package 5500 Cover and Y2K Alert," a one-page cover sheet for the 1998 Form 5500 package. There is nothing else for 1998 or for earlier years of Form 5500.
david rigby Posted August 29, 2000 Posted August 29, 2000 Try the item immediately before "1998 Pakg 5500 Package 5500 Cover and Y2K Alert", 22 page set of instructions. I'm a retirement actuary. Nothing about my comments is intended or should be construed as investment, tax, legal or accounting advice. Occasionally, but not all the time, it might be reasonable to interpret my comments as actuarial or consulting advice.
R. Butler Posted August 29, 2000 Posted August 29, 2000 Fred Benefits, If you want to e-mail me. I will reply with the link. Your address isn't stored on the message board.
Guest Fred Benefits Posted August 29, 2000 Posted August 29, 2000 Ooops. My apologies to R. Butler. I failed to see the separate link for prior years forms. Thank you for your patience.
