PDF versions of Pre-1999 Form 5500 and Instructions

Does the IRS maintain PDF versions of Form 5500 and the instructions for years BEFORE 1999? If it does, how do you find the 1998 Form 5500 instructions on the Web?

The IRS website allows you to download prior year forms to at least 1993. Go to http://www.irs.gov

Well, I wrote the original e-mail to start this thread after a fruitless search of the IRS website. After reviewing your post, I went back to the URL you described, enterd "Form 5500" in the search box, and came up with several hits for the 1999 Form 5500, but for no other year.

What I'd like are the Instructions for the 1998 Form 5500-C/R. I can't find them on the IRS website. If there's anyone out there who can find them on the IRS website, would you please let me know where you find them?

scroll down until you see prior year forms and pubs. click on the link.

it should work just like you were getting current forms.

Been there, done that.

The only 1998 form regarding Form 5500 that I find there is "1998 Pakg 5500 Package 5500 Cover and Y2K Alert," a one-page cover sheet for the 1998 Form 5500 package. There is nothing else for 1998 or for earlier years of Form 5500.
