R. Butler Posted September 1, 2000 Posted September 1, 2000 We have several profit sharing plans with 401(k) & 401(m) provisions. In several of the plans the (k) & (m) benefit all eleigible NHCE's and there is no profit sharing contribution made. In completing Line 3 do I complete separate Schedule T's for the disaggregated parts or do I just check 3(B) & 3(d)? Line 4 provides space for disaggregated parts, but I don't get to line 4 and Line 3 does not provide space for disaggregated parts. Any guidance is appreciated.
Guest Rudy Posted September 1, 2000 Posted September 1, 2000 We have similar accounts. In this case, you complete the appropriate boxes in line 3, and do not complete line 4. Line 4 would be completed in future years if a profit sharing contribution were made. Hope this helps.
jkharvey Posted September 5, 2000 Posted September 5, 2000 What if the plan makes a PS contribution in addition to the 401k and 401m amounts and all eligible NHCEs are still receiving a benefit? Can Line 3 cover all of this and still allow the filer to skip line 4?
Richard Anderson Posted September 5, 2000 Posted September 5, 2000 If all nonexcludable NHCEs benefit in each of the disaggregated plans (401a, 401k, 401m) then I mark line 3d, and skip the rest of the Schedule. If any nonexcludable NHCE does not benefit in any one of the disaggregated plans, then I don't mark 3d, and I complete line 4.
