Guest jenbenefits Posted October 10, 2000 Posted October 10, 2000 How should dependent care flexible spending accounts be handled for employees on a paid or unpaid leave of absence? If the employee is considered totally disabled (and therefore eligible for STD or LTD), can the employee continue his/her dependent care flexible spending account during his/her leave of absence?
david rigby Posted October 10, 2000 Posted October 10, 2000 hmmm. Try searching the Cafeteria message board for "loa" or "leave of absence". I'm a retirement actuary. Nothing about my comments is intended or should be construed as investment, tax, legal or accounting advice. Occasionally, but not all the time, it might be reasonable to interpret my comments as actuarial or consulting advice.
Guest lmrice Posted October 10, 2000 Posted October 10, 2000 Employees are not eligible to participate in the DCSA while on a leave of absence. The sole purpose of the DCSA is to allow the employee to work. The employee may join up again when they return from their LOA.
