Guest rrowehl Posted October 12, 2000 Posted October 12, 2000 I need help identifying major voluntary carriers offering product in NY, NJ, CT, MA, & RI. How can I get this information without going direct to the companies licenced in a particular state and asking if they offer voluntary product? Is there an easier way? Please help. Thanks.
david rigby Posted October 12, 2000 Posted October 12, 2000 Could this be of help? http://www.ins.state.ny.us/ http://www.state.ct.us/cid/ http://www.state.ma.us/doi/ I'm a retirement actuary. Nothing about my comments is intended or should be construed as investment, tax, legal or accounting advice. Occasionally, but not all the time, it might be reasonable to interpret my comments as actuarial or consulting advice.
Guest rrowehl Posted October 13, 2000 Posted October 13, 2000 Pax, Thanks for the info. I was able to find specific info on the CT site. I have used the NY & MA sites and they list all licensed co's in the state. You then need to call each co. I was looking for a quicker, easier way to find voluntary carriers.
david rigby Posted October 13, 2000 Posted October 13, 2000 Here is New Jersey: http://states.naic.org/nj/NJHOMEPG.HTML I'm a retirement actuary. KIP KRAUS Posted October 16, 2000 Posted October 16, 2000 You can also contact an independent benefits broker in your area and they can tell you. For the most part, you will need to use a broker to purchase these benefits anyway. Some insurers will write direct with employers and some won't. Unless you want to deal with every insurer that offers voluntary benefits, I recommend contacting a broker.
Guest Phil Cohen Posted October 16, 2000 Posted October 16, 2000 As someone who deals in Voluntary Benefits everyday, I will tell you there is a lot of confusion on products. Many carriers are selling "individual" policies in a group setting while others are selling much richer, "true group" products on a voluntary basis. Find a quality broker/consultant that has a proven track record of dealing in voluntary benefits and can provide several references. Thanks, Phil Cohen Broad Reach Benefits, Inc.
Guest rrowehl Posted October 16, 2000 Posted October 16, 2000 Kip & Phil, I thank you for your responses. I think that might be the easiest way to go. Appreciate the help from all. Regards. Rich Rowehl
