Guest CFS Posted March 26, 1999 Posted March 26, 1999 Does anyone know where we can find Software for Cafeteria Plan Administration? Keeping up with the plan and writing the checks. We need it in Windows environment for Win '95. Any advice or recommendations will be helpful. ------------------
Guest R Biles Posted March 26, 1999 Posted March 26, 1999 Datair (www.datair.com) has Cafeteria administration software. It's still a DOS based system (mouse capable, though), but we run it in a Win95 platform. They are scheduled to have a Win95 version out later this year. There's other software providers out there, but we don't use any of them, so I don't know the names.
SLuskin Posted March 29, 1999 Posted March 29, 1999 We have been using Mayer Hoffman McCann for almost 10 years. It is a dos based system that they indicated will be updated to windows. We use it through windows, however. If it is just for your company, you might be better off having a Section 125 administrative services firm do it for you.
Lisa Hand Posted April 1, 1999 Posted April 1, 1999 Data Path in Arkansas, 1-800-633-3841, has Windows 95 based software. However, SLuskin is right in suggesting out-sourcing if this is just for your organization. The BenefitsLink yellow pages lists several plan service providers.
Guest Dick Boever Posted April 8, 1999 Posted April 8, 1999 I recently requested info on all 125 Plan software I could find. I believe the only Windows product is Travisflex from Travis Software. (http://www.travisoft.com) The other companies mentioned above are working on a Windows version. By and large most of these products as well as P&W and Benesoft are for TPA firms or very large employers. Fast Flex Pro is free to companies with under 25 participants. Flex Plan is fairly resonable for a small employer. However, as a former DOL compliance officer, the problem is not with the recordkeeping which can be done on a spreadsheet, the problem is keeping the plan legal. That is why everyone so far has suggested outside help. At least have someone set up the plan for you and train you. Perhaps have them do the first years testing and government filing. Good luck! ------------------
