Class Action Litigation Against Fiduciaries

Multnomah Group

Presentation slides

The rate of litigation alleging fiduciary breach is rapidly increasing.  A recent set of settlements with large 401(k) plans has given birth to a new wave of cases against a broader set of plan sponsors, including the first group of not-for-profit higher education institutions.  Additionally, smaller law firms are using the lessons from the first set of class action cases to replicate claims against smaller plan targets.

In this webinar, Multnomah Group will review the recurring claims against retirement plan sponsors and the steps fiduciaries may consider taking to document and to demonstrate prudence – shielding themselves against similar class action suits.

Managing Principal Erik Daley will assist plan sponsor participants on the webinar in achieving an understanding of the following:

  • History of class action suits against plan sponsors;
  • Recent settlement structures;
  • The new wave of plaintiffs’ claims; and
  • Steps to improve fiduciary documentation and participant communications.

The webinar will conclude with a question-and-answer session.
