New Parental Leave Laws in Washington D.C.Lorman Education Services |
Oct. 25, 2017 Recorded Online Webcast |
1:00 - 2:30 pm EST Gain a better understanding of the D.C. Paid Family Leave Law. On April 7, 2017, the D.C. Universal Paid Leave Amendment Act (D.C. Paid Family Leave) became law. This new law extends Washington, D.C.'s already generous patchwork of leave benefits and imposes new obligations and penalties on employers. Unlike other D.C. laws, it applies to most employers, including ‘small' businesses. This material will cover what you need to know about D.C. Paid Family Leave, from your company's leave, notice and recordkeeping obligations to the consequences of noncompliance. It will include a review of your current obligations under other D.C. leave laws, such as the D.C. FMLA, and how D.C. Paid Family Leave will and will not change these requirements. The content will include practical advice to help your company avoid costly penalties and litigation, including advice for implementing new leave policies before this law goes into effect. We will further discuss the most recent developments and legislation aimed at amending D.C. Paid Family Leave, and tips for how to adapt should the law change. Learning Objectives
