We are delighted to invite you to join us January 17-19, 2019 for the 45th Annual TIPS Midwinter Symposium on Insurance and Employee Benefits – Life, Health and Disability, and ERISA: Emerging Issues and Litigation. This conference provides a great opportunity to learn and mingle with industry colleagues at the beautiful Hyatt Regency in Coral Gables, Florida, located just off Coral Gables’ famous Miracle Mile shopping and entertainment area and near Miami’s business center, along with some of the best golf, beaches, dining, and nightlife that South Florida has to offer.
This year’s program focuses on the latest issues and trends in life insurance, health & disability insurance, employee benefits and ERISA, and insurance regulation. In addition to our regular key updates and hot topics panels, we are excited to announce a number of special panels focusing on current issues including:
- association health plans,
- the Washington, DC regulatory and legislative landscape after the midterm elections,
- the latest opportunities and challenges in complying with the new disability insurance regulations,
- the influence of Big Data on insurance,
- the impact of common life events on life insurance proceeds,
- “accidents” and causation under Accidental Death & Dismemberment policies, and
- valuing, mediating, and resolving life, health and disability benefit claims.
As always, the program will include a roundtable discussion led by former state insurance commissioners focusing on the latest issues and challenges in insurance regulation, as well as a presentation on legal ethical dilemmas.
The program begins with a reception on Thursday evening, providing a great opportunity for networking and renewing acquaintances. First-time attendees will find a warm and welcoming group that makes this educational meeting fun and memorable. You will see why our “regulars” keep coming back. Returning attendees and committee leaders will welcome new attendees and panelists, and coordinate “dine-around” dinners on Thursday night for those interested. The substantive CLE programming begins in earnest on Friday morning, with all attendee dine-around dinners on Friday evening. The program resumes Saturday morning and concludes at lunchtime, which will enable ample time to enjoy the South Florida weather for the long holiday weekend. Bring your family or friends. There is so much to do in the Coral Gables/Miami area!
Members of the Life Insurance Law, Health & Disability Law, Employee Benefits, and Insurance Regulation Committees of ABA TIPS are also welcome to attend the committees’ business meetings at the conclusion of the Friday CLE program, which sessions provide an opportunity for members to contribute to the future and direction of their committees.
Anyone interested in outstanding CLE programming, opportunities for networking in a collegial and beautiful setting, not to mention a January break in the Florida sun, will not want to miss this meeting. We look forward to seeing you there!
