Legislative and Regulatory Process with Benefits LegislationAmerican Bar Association Joint Committee on Employee Benefits [JCEB] |
July 9, 2020 Recorded Online Webcast |
Within recent years, significant changes to benefits and compensation legislation have occurred. Experts offer insights into the legislative and regulatory process related to such changes - discussing not only how the branches may interact during the process, but how the process may have changed over the years and in light of current events. In 2010, the Affordable Care Act made sweeping changes. In 2017, tax reform occurred. In 2019, the SECURE Act was passed. And in 2020, the FFCRA and CARES Act (and potential additional legislation) have rendered changes to various areas in benefits. Following the legislative changes, the regulatory guidance process has in some cases progressed as it may have in the past but has also been impacted by COVID-19 events. This webinar features speakers who were former Joint Committee on Taxation Legislation Counsel during key legislation impacting benefits and compensation, as well as a former attorney at the Treasury Department during implementation of employee benefits related legislation. They will offer insights into the legislative and regulatory process related to such changes – discussing not only how the branches may interact during the process, but how the process may have changed over the years and in light of current events.
