Join us as we discuss various leaves of absence and their impact on benefits administration. We will discuss topics such as benefit eligibility, contributions, and COBRA applicability. In addition, we will review considerations under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), emergency paid sick leave (EPSL)/expanded FMLA (EFMLA), Section 125, and state law. Jill has been with NFP since 2005, advising employers and brokers on compliance issues related to employee benefits and human resources matters. She has over 15 years of experience in the employee benefits and insurance industry, and is familiar with all aspects of it, having worked for United Healthcare on the carrier side, the Texas Department of Insurance on the regulatory side and in human resources and benefits administration on the employer side. She is a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS).

Patrick joined NFP in 2019. He has nineteen years of legal experience, including experience as in-house counsel for technology companies, intellectual property counsel, and administrative law counsel. He worked as an attorney for the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy and as senior counsel in the Chief Counsel’s Office of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission – Office of Inspector General. He has handled complex matters pertaining to attestation standards, intellectual property law, and Medicaid. Patrick holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
