New rules and guidance under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (CAA) explain how group health plan sponsors must disclose pricing information about their plans, and also, ensure that their service providers are disclosing their compensation as well. In this benefits compliance briefing, benefits attorney Dan Kuperstein and Vice President Travis Turner, will discuss requirements for plan sponsors, including:

  • Publicly posting machine-readable files (MRFs) for in-network rates, out-of-network allowed amounts and other charges
  • Completing prescription drug reporting
  • Providing an Internet-based price comparison tool, supplying the plan’s costs for specified medical coverage items and services
  • Designating a responsible plan fiduciary for determining the reasonableness of plan service provider compensation
