|MINNEAPOLIS, June 21, 2004 — American Express Retirement Services today announced that Kristin Story has joined the firm as vice president, sales in the expanding distribution arm of American Express Retirement Services. Story will office north of Boston serving the Northeastern territory of the United States.

With fourteen years of institutional retirement benefits experience, Story comes to American Express from Wachovia where she was vice president, major markets retirement sales responsible for sales of institutional retirement plans in a 23-state territory. Prior to Wachovia, Story was a regional sales manager with Charles Schwab responsible for defined contribution, non-qualified and ESOP/ESPP plan sales. She also has held positions at Bank One and Fidelity Investments.
