|MINNEAPOLIS, June 28, 2004 — American Express Retirement Services today announced that Paul Kendig has joined the firm as vice president, sales in the expanding distribution arm of American Express Retirement Services. Kendig will office in Atlanta serving the Southeastern territory of the United States.

With more than 20 years of institutional and corporate experience, Kendig comes to American Express Retirement Services from the American Express Company Traveler’s Cheque and Prepaid Services division, where he was vice president, field sales, responsible for a geographically dispersed team of salespeople focused on large institutional accounts. Kendig has held several posts at American Express Company since joining the organization in 1991, including director of sales, director or business analysis and development, and manager of finance. Prior to American Express, Kendig held positions at John Portman Companies, Tenneco Oil and Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Company.
