Press release:

Beth Essey Promoted To Lead Henderson Brothers Employee Benefits Division

Issued by: Henderson Brothers

Date: June 3, 2011

Pittsburgh – June 2, 2011 – Beth A. Essey, who for the last year has been director of strategic accounts in the employee benefits division at Henderson Brothers, Inc., has recently been promoted to manage the division. Henderson Brothers, based downtown, is one of Western Pennsylvania’s largest providers of insurance and risk management, employee benefits, retirement plan services and all lines of commercial, personal property and casualty insurance. Essey, who also joins the firm’s management team, succeeds Jim Stewart who managed and grew the department for more than two decades. Stewart remains with the company as a senior consultant and will service a number of major accounts.

“These are interesting times, given the changes that have come as a result of health care reform and consolidations,” said Essey. “I’m very happy to be with Henderson Brothers, and to have this opportunity, because organizations like ours are better positioned to respond quickly to shifts in the industry. We’re constantly evaluating our business model and our offerings, to assure we’re providing clients with the best products and most effective service possible,” said Essey.

Ms. Essey is a senior level health and employee benefits consultant, bringing 20 years of experience to her new position. Prior to joining Henderson, she was a principal, senior consultant and health and benefits business leader for the local office of Mercer. Prior to that she served as senior vice president, senior consultant and employee benefits service practice leader at Marsh, having joined the firm in 1992 when it was Johnson & Higgins, and holding positions of vice president and senior consultant. Previously she held account management positions with a national and local benefits brokerage firm.

“Beth has been a great addition to our team,” said Dan Grealish, chairman of Henderson Brothers, Inc. “We look forward to working with her to maintain our independence and to growing our employee benefits footprint in the region organically and though acquisition where it makes strategic sense.”

Essey is a member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans; the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists; Society for Human Resource Management; WorldatWork and the Pittsburgh Association of Group Executives.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from North Carolina’s Appalachian State University, with a major in marketing and a minor in finance, insurance and real estate.
