Wins the NJBIZ “Best Growth Manager” Award

East Windsor, NJ – NJBIZ hosted its 2011 CFO of the Year awards ceremony on Tuesday, October 25 at the Palace at Somerset Park, recognizing financial executives at public and private companies, as well as nonprofits.

The CFO of the Year awards program celebrates New Jersey’s financial executives at all levels who contribute to the success of New Jersey’s economic growth and stability.  Finalists were selected in seven categories:  Best Growth Manager and Best Turnaround Specialist, Public Company, Private Company with revenues over $50MM, Private Company with revenues up to $50MM, Nonprofit CFO – Small (24 or fewer employees), Nonprofit CFO – Large (25 or more employees),

The winner of the best growth manager award was Sid Garai, from ExpertPlan Inc. and the best turnaround specialist was Bill Pereira, of IDT Corp., The award for top chief financial officer at a public company went to Tom Conforti, of Wyndham Worldwide Corp. and the winner for private company with revenue of more than $50 million was Joseph F. Purcell, of The Michaels Organization.

The award for private company with revenue of up to $50 million went to NeoStrata Co. Inc.'s Dennis P. Reilly. The winner in the small nonprofit category was Lynore DeSantis, from the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program. The winner in the large nonprofit category was Robert Glenning, of Hackensack University Medical Center.
More than 400 people attended the event. The keynote speaker was Gregory Besner, CFO of SecondMarket Holdings Inc.

The award program, produced by NJBIZ, New Jersey’s premiere business news publication, is sponsored by WithumSmith+Brown, PC, CIGNA, Financial Executives International, Robert Half, SorinRoyerCooper LLC, Real Estate Strategies, Wells Fargo and Vanguard Energy Partners, LLC.

Finalists and winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges including: Bill Carson, Hudson Ventures; Robert Chefitz, NJTC Venture Fund and Egis Capital Partners; JohnFrankel, ff Venture Capital; James W. Hughes, Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey and Denis C. Picard, Alvarez & Marsal Technology Asset Management.
