Benefitfocus Ushers in New Era of Personalization with Advancements to Enterprise Benefits Management Platform

Issued by: Benefitfocus

Date: Mar. 9, 2016

Mobile enrollment and industry-leading content management capabilities empower benefits leaders to engage employees like never before

ORLANDO, Fla., March 8, 2016 -- Benefitfocus, Inc. (NASDAQ: BNFT), a leading provider of cloud-based benefits management software, today announced the next generation of the BENEFITFOCUS® Platform during the company's annual user conference, One Place. Building on investments from the past year, the new enhancements provide Benefitfocus customers with the tools they need to support an increasingly mobile workforce and engage employees during the moments that matter most.

"Our investments over the past 12 months resulted in a platform framework that is enabling us to deliver new capabilities to our clients at a record pace. With our new mobile enrollment capabilities, we will become the first enterprise benefits management platform to support mobile enrollment for any employee on any device," said Shawn Jenkins, Benefitfocus CEO.

Jenkins shared how the company's extensive investment in research and development is accelerating the company's capability to both innovate and scale. The Benefitfocus Platform handled more than 14,000,000 logins and 39,000,000 plan enrollments during the recent fall open enrollment period.

"As benefits become more complex and workforce mobility accelerates, large employers demand a mobile-first experience. Coupled with our new content management system, we've positioned our customers to engage their employee population anytime and anywhere," said Jenkins.

Highlights from One Place 2016 include:

  • Enroll Anywhere, Anytime, on Any Device

From retail to healthcare, the workforce is increasingly mobile and legacy HR systems have struggled to keep pace. Today, Benefitfocus announced the ability for large employers and insurance carriers to support mobile open enrollment and life event changes beginning this fall. In addition, large employers and their employees will be able to complete open enrollment in the BENEFITFOCUS® App. Included in BENEFITFOCUS® Marketplace, the new mobile capabilities dramatically reduce the amount of time benefits leaders spend each open enrollment supporting employees who do not have easy access to a laptop or desktop computer. Now whether employees log in through a mobile web browser or access their benefits within Benefitfocus App, they can enjoy the same decision support tools and personalized experience provided by Benefitfocus Marketplace on their smartphone or tablet anytime, anywhere.

  • Engage Employees During the Moments That Matter

The new content manager capabilities within Benefitfocus Marketplace will provide robust tools to engage employees with relevant, highly personalized content at the exact moments employees need it the most. Beyond simply adding and editing pages, users will have access to a complete media library that allows them to quickly build custom pages and manage content across the entire benefits enrollment workflow. The new capabilities will reduce the amount of time HR leaders spend on content management from days to hours.

  • Identify and Manage Healthcare Cost Drivers with Data

New flexible date range and multi-level filtering capabilities in the BENEFITFOCUS® Core Analytics product apply laser-like precision to pinpoint cost drivers. For example, within a few clicks, administrators can predict lost time at a given location due to absenteeism resulting from chronic conditions, and use the information to design plans that can help better manage chronic conditions and reduce costs. Administrators gain greater visibility into plan activity and clinical prediction—all within one consolidated dashboard.

  • ACA Management & Reporting Made Easy

BENEFITFOCUS® ACA Management & Reporting offers an easy-to-follow workflow that helps administrators complete IRS forms 1094-C and 1095-C. Built-in rules and validations help administrators avoid IRS penalties and ensure forms are completed with the right information and in the required format for IRS reporting transmission.

The new features will be available through the company's quarterly release cycle, some of which are already available as of the March 1, 2016, Spring Release. Click here for a complete list of new product announcements.
