IRI Announces New Vice Presidents

New and Promoted Staff Members Will Support IRI’s Government Affairs, Marketing and Communications Efforts

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 13, 2106 – The Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) today announced that it has welcomed four new staff members and promoted one staff member to serve as vice presidents for the Washington-based association. Tom Korb and Chelsea Crucitti will serve as vice presidents on the IRI Government Affairs team, and Drew Kessler, Cheretta Clerkley and Andrew Simonelli will serve as vice presidents on the IRI Marketing, Communication and Research team.

“We are delighted to announce these staff changes and welcome aboard new members to our team who will support our continued growth and expansion,” said Cathy Weatherford, IRI President and CEO. “The combined experience of these vice presidents – across a broad swath of associations and financial services organizations – will be a tremendous benefit to IRI and the members we serve, as we continue our important work advocating for the sustainable retirement solutions Americans need to help achieve a secure and dignified retirement.”

  • Tom Korb

    Tom Korb joins the IRI staff as its Vice President, Tax and Regulatory Affairs. He will manage IRI’s government affairs portfolio on issues related to the Tax Code as well as retirement security policy and regulatory issues. Before coming to IRI, Korb served as Vice President of Policy and Public Affairs for the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU) from 2004 to 2015, and had served in various other public policy roles for AALU dating back to 1989. Korb earned his Juris Doctorate from American University Washington College of Law. He has a Master of Arts in History from Columbia University and Bachelor of Arts of in History from the University of Iowa.

  • Chelsea Crucitti

    Chelsea Crucitti joins the IRI staff as Vice President, State Affairs. Crucitti will help lead IRI’s advocacy efforts at the state level, including issues before the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and the National Conference of Insurance Legislators. Crucitti recently earned her Juris Doctorate from the Charlotte School of Law. She previously served as Associate Director, State Government Affairs, for the Consumer Healthcare Products Association from 2012 to 2013, and as State Legislative and Political Affairs Specialist for the Mortgage Bankers Association from 2009 to 2012. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Vermont.

  • Drew Kessler

    Drew Kessler joins the IRI staff as its Vice President, Conferences, Communications and Marketing. He will oversee IRI’s conferences, marketing and partnership programs. Before joining the IRI staff, Kessler served as Vice President, Marketing and Communications, for the National Foundation for Credit Counseling from 2009 to 2015, and as Marketing Manager, Government Programs, for Weatherbug from 2007 to 2008. He also has served in various marketing positions with SunTrust Banks Inc. and JPMorgan Chase & Company. Kessler earned his Bachelor of Science in Communications from Syracuse University.

  • Cheretta Clerkley

    Cheretta Clerkley joins the IRI staff as its Vice President, External Engagement and Communications. She will manage IRI’s consumer-engagement coalition, the National Retirement Planning Coalition, which consists of more than 40 partner organizations. Prior to coming to IRI, Clerkley served as Director of the Hormone Health Network with the Endocrine Society since 2013, and as Director of Marketing and Corporate Relations for the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) from 2011 to 2013. Clerkley earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Public Relations and Advertising from Temple University and Masters in Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College.

  • Andrew Simonelli

    IRI also announced the promotion of Andrew Simonelli to the role of Vice President, Communications. Simonelli will manage IRI’s advocacy and member communications. He first joined the IRI staff in 2012 as Director of Communications and Marketing. From 2005 to 2012, he worked for the American Academy of Actuaries, serving as its Assistant Director of Communications for Public Affairs from 2007 to 2012. Simonelli earned a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations from the Pennsylvania State University.
