Mintz's Michelle Capezza Inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel

Issued by Mintz

Sept. 19, 2022

New York, NY – Mintz is pleased to announce that Michelle Capezza, an accomplished employee benefits and executive compensation attorney, was elected by the Board of Governors of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel (ACEBC) and inducted as a Fellow in the College at the College’s Annual Dinner held at The Chicago Club in Chicago, IL, on September 17, 2022.

The ACEBC is an invitation-only organization of nationally-recognized employee benefits legal experts with twenty or more years of experience. Fellows of the ACEBC are selected by the College’s Board of Governors from among employee benefits attorneys nominated for that honor and recommended for consideration by the Board’s Membership Committee after considering the recommendations of regional screening committees. Selection as a Fellow reflects the Board’s judgment that a nominee has made significant contributions to the advancement of the employee benefits field, demonstrated a sustained commitment to public understanding of employee benefits laws, and provided exceptionally high-quality professional services to clients, the bar and the public.

With more than 25 years of experience, Ms. Capezza counsels clients on qualified retirement plans, ERISA fiduciary responsibilities, nonqualified deferred compensation arrangements, employee welfare benefit plans, equity and incentive programs, severance plans, and benefits issues that arise in corporate transactions. She serves as a trusted advisor on compliance with laws affecting employee benefit plans and represents clients in matters before the Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service, and other government agencies. Ms. Capezza works with companies of all sizes, and individual executives, across a broad spectrum of industries, including financial services, health care, life sciences, technology, artificial intelligence, media, telecommunications, hospitality, and retail.  Ms. Capezza also brings her experience to counsel clients on the use of artificial intelligence in the workplace and the related implications for employee benefits and compensation for their changing workforce.

Known for her thought leadership, Ms. Capezza frequently speaks and writes articles on topics related to employee benefits and executive compensation. She has also received national and regional awards and recognition for her work, including from Chambers USA, The Legal 500 United States, New York Metro Super Lawyers, and Who's Who in America.

Alden Bianchi, Chair of the Mintz’s Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Practice, is also a Fellow of the ACEBC.
