Press Release

Cleary Gottlieb’s Leading Executive Compensation, Employee Benefits, and ERISA Practice Continues to Expand

Issued by Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP

Mar. 8, 2023

Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP announced today that Alan Levine has joined as a partner in the firm’s New York office, focusing on executive compensation and employee benefits matters.

“We are very excited to welcome Alan to our firm,” said Cleary Managing Partner Michael Gerstenzang. “Cleary’s world-renowned executive compensation, employee benefits, and ERISA practice helps our clients structure cutting edge executive compensation and employee benefits arrangements and navigate related corporate governance and securities law complexities. Alan’s broad range of experience is a welcome addition to our already stellar practice.”

Alan advises private equity firms, public and private companies, management teams and individual executives in all facets of executive compensation and employee benefits matters, including negotiating employment arrangements, designing and implementing incentive compensation plans (including equity and carry arrangements), evaluating non-competition and non-solicitation covenants, advising on securities law and disclosure requirements, and navigating change of control situations.

“Alan is an experienced and innovative practitioner with a stellar reputation and deep knowledge of market practice,” said Cleary executive compensation, employee benefits, and ERISA partner Michael Albano. “His joining comes on the heels of the additions of partners Audry Casusol, Liz Dyer, and Julia Petty—and underscores our commitment to continued growth of our market leading executive compensation and benefits practice.”

“With its global reputation for advising top public and private companies across various industries as well as financial sponsor clients, Cleary provides a platform where I can continue to service existing clients and contribute to the sustainable growth of the practice,” said Alan. “I am looking forward to being part of such a dynamic team.”

Prior to joining Cleary, Alan was an executive compensation & employee benefits partner at another leading law firm. Alan received his LL.M. (Tax) from New York University School of Law, his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, and his B.S.B.A from Boston University.
