When Will Widow Begin Receiving Benefits?
(Posted August 10, 2013)
Question 1042: My father passed away 10 years ago at age 54 after approximately 30 years of railroad service. He was still employed at the time of his death. When will my mother be eligible to receive his retirement benefits?
Answer: If your mother does not remarry, she can receive a Widow's Annuity at 60. If she is disabled from all work, her annuity could begin as early as 50.
