Younger Spouse of Rail Worker

Question 1084: I will begin my Social Security benefit at 62 in March 2014. My spouse will not retire from the railroad until March 2018, when she will be 62 with 320 months of rail service. Will I be able to apply for Railroad Retirement at that time?

Answer: You can apply for a Spouse Annuity as early as January 2018.
