Remarried Divorced Spouse Is Single Again
(Posted December 29, 2013)
Question 1087: I am 70. I was married for 17 years to a railroad worker. We divorced and I remarried. I'm now a widow drawing my Social Security. My ex-husband is retired and has remarried. Am I now entitled to any benefits from his Railroad Retirement?
Answer: You are eligible for a Divorced Spouse Annuity from Railroad Retirement if your benefit is more than your own Social Security. You should call the Railroad retirement Board to find out and start the application process. Their toll-free number is (877) 772-5772.
