Question 1115: What can my wife receive from Railroad Retirement if I die and she has retired as a school teacher?
Answer: If you are vested in Railroad Retirement and have a "Current Connection" with the rail industry, your wife will receive a Widow's Annuity as early as 60, or age 50 if she is disabled.
Otherwise, Social Security will pay her a Widow's benefit.
