Does Investment Income Count for the Annual Earnings Test?
(Posted April 9, 2014)
Question 1121: If I am retired and buy a house to "flip" (resell quickly after I buy it), would this affect my Railroad Retirement annuity? If so, could I put the house in my wife's name to avoid problems?
Answer: Only income from employment or self-employment counts for the Annual Earnings Test. Investment income like the type of income described in your question is excluded.
