Husband Cannot Receive Spouse Annuity Until Rail Worker Retires

Question 1172: I have Railroad Retirement but I am not ready to retire. If my husband, who does not have Railroad Retirement, retires before me, does he get any benefits from me?
Answer: Your husband cannot receive a Spouse Annuity until you are awarded an annuity by Railroad Retirement. The only exception is for a Divorced Spouse.
