Answers are provided by Robert S. Kaufman

Benefits for Children of Deceased Rail Workers

(Posted November 4, 2014)

Question 1213: I have young kids. Their father was a deceased RR worker. Can I also receive benefits from Railroad Retirement?

Answer: If Railroad Retirement is responsible for paying Survivor benefits, minor and disabled adult children can receive Survivor Annuities from Railroad Retirement.

Young widows also can receive benefits if they are caring for the children.
