Question 1227: Can I still collect my Social Security while I wait for my husband's Railroad Retirement to be paid to me? We plan to get married. I collect Social Security and PERSI (I taught school for 32 years).
Answer: You will become eligible for a Spouse Annuity from Railroad Retirement after one year of marriage.
