Question 1235: I am 53 and was married to a CSX employee who is now retired. We were married for 16 years and have been divorced for 11 years. Am I able to apply for retirement benefits?
If you are not married when you reach 62, you will be entitled to a Divorced Spouse Annuity. You should contact the Railroad Retirement Board three months before your 62nd birthday to file an application. Their toll-free number is: (877) 772-5772.
