When Spouse of Rail Retiree Continues to Work
(Posted October 8, 2002)
Question 196: Are there any restrictions on a spouse continuing to work after a railroad worker retires on 60/30? I'm 15 years younger than my husband; I need to continue to work just to cover the cost of health insurance for both of us once he's retired.
Answer: Absolutely no restrictions! Your earnings will not reduce or otherwise affect your husband's Railroad Retirement benefits.
