Health Insurance for Husbands and Wives of Retired Rail Workers
(Posted July 4, 2003)
Question 281: Are spouses of retired rail workers covered under the private railroad health insurance program? What happens when the rail worker turns 65 and becomes covered by Medicare?
Answer: Railroad health insurance plans for workers, retirees and their families are not part of the Railroad Retirement program.
The best source of information would be the benefits department of the railroad or the railway labor organization (union).
