Question 448: I worked for the railroad for 6 years and was told that when I retire, my Railroad Retirement credits would be turned over to Social Security. Is that still true?
Answer: Yes,unless you have at least 5 years (60 months) of railroad service after 1995. The vesting requirement was lowered from 120 months to 60 months several years ago, for those who have at least 60 months of railroad service after 1995.
