Benefits For A Remarried Divorced Spouse
(Posted June 17, 2004)
Question 465: I divorced a railroad employee after being married for 10 years. I remarried but my second husband passed away. Am I eligible for a portion of my first husband's retirement?
Answer: Yes. Because you now are unmarried, you are eligible for a divorced spouse benefit based on your first husband's record. If you are age 62, you should contact the nearest office of the Railroad Retirement Board and file an application.
