Question 584: What happens when a rail worker on a disability annuity dies while his widow is drawing a federal civil service pension?
Answer: She will be eligible for a Widow's Annuity from Railroad Retirement if she is 60. However, her Tier 1 benefit will be reduced by 2/3 of the amount of her federal civil service pension due to the "public pension offset."
