Question 764: Is my Railroad Retirement affected by Social Security? Do I get both my Federal (FERS) Pension and my Railroad Retirement?
Answer: Railroad Retirement Tier 1 is always reduced for Social Security benefits. If you are a rail worker, your Federal pension will not affect you annuity. If you are a spouse or survivor, your Railroad Retirement Tier 1 would be reduced by 2/3 of your monthly pension.
