New Health Insurance Legislation
(Posted September 30, 2010)
Question 774: The new health care law eliminates lifetime limits on benefits. Does this apply to plans covering railroad workers? Will the insurance companies notify us of this new change in writing, and when?
Answer: The new legislation covers most Americans, including rail workers and their families.
Health insurance is not part of Railroad Retirement and you need to contact your rail employer's employee benefits office to get information on how the new health care legislation affects your benefit.
