Question 788: Do the railroads have an exclusive company handling Railroad Retirement?

Answer: The Railroad Retirement program is administered by an independent Federal agency, the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) with headquarters in Chicago. The RRB's toll-free number is (877) 772-5772.

Medicare benefits are administered by the RRB, but Part B claims are processed by a Medicare insurance carrier: Palmetto GBA. Its toll-free number is (800) 833-4455.
