Answers are provided by Robert S. Kaufman

Spouse Eligible At Age 60

(Posted August 22, 2012)

Question 898: My husband retired at the age of 59, after 30 years with the railroad. We have been married for 14 years. He is now 65; I am 55. When will I be eligible for a Spouse Annuity?

Answer: Yes, because your husband had at least 30 years of rail service credits, you will be eligible for an unreduced Spouse Annuity at 60.
