Benefits Following Divorce

Question 945: What kind of benefits are available after a divorce, for a former spouse who was married to the rail worker for over 10 years?
Answer: If the former spouse does not remarry, he or she can receive a Divorced Spouse Annuity at 62. It consists of only Tier 1. It is fully reduced by any Social Security benefit the former he or she receives.
At 65, he or she is entitled to Medicare as a Qualified Railroad Retirement Beneficiary.
