Stop, Look & Listen: Railroad Retirement Benefits Q&A

Answers are provided by Robert S. Kaufman

Can the Children of a Deceased Rail Worker Recieve His Company Pension?

(Posted February 11, 2013)

Question 973: Our father and mother are both deceased. Before their deaths, they both received benefits from Railroad Retirement. However they never drew on my father's company pension. As their children, are we now entitled to receive it?

Answer: The pension benefits that you asked about are not part of Railroad Retirement. You need to contact the railroad company that he worked for, and find out if any pension benefits are due your family.
