SSRRS Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 Hi, Yesterday, two separate DB Plan ez CALENDAR filers for 2020, that were extended due to IDA to Jan 3rd and then further extended to Feb 15th received late filer penalty notices of $16, 500 and $17,000 respectively. They both filed in mid December 2021, well before the Jan 3rd extended due date. In addition, on top of each form it was written in Bold..."New York- Hurricane IDA - FEMA IDR 4615." Has anyone else heard about this? Thank you.
thepensionmaven Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 I assume you are in NewYork. This was covered in other posts, but was regarding DOL emails to clients, claiming they can not find Form 5500 for 2020 Basically use the same procedure, copy Form 5500 for them, note the "special " extension wording, mail your reply certified, return receipt and keep your fingers crossed. Good luck. Luke Bailey 1
thepensionmaven Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 Was form 5558 filed? I believe the Ida extension applied to plans that were due after 9/1 - if an extension was not filed, you're out of luck. SSRRS 1
SSRRS Posted September 6, 2022 Author Posted September 6, 2022 The pensionmaven, Thank you. We will send a response. The extension until October 15, 21 had been filed.
thepensionmaven Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 I'm almost afraid to ask, but was the letter from IRS or DOL? If from the IRS, oh no, here we go again. SSRRS 1
